Social Studies

Social Studies is an integrated disciple incorporating geography and mappiing, cultural studies, and history. Throughout the elementary school, students explore the ways in which individuals and groups meet their basic needs and wants through natural resources in the environment, cooperation and competition with others, technology, and cultural practices and traditions. Focused units of study explore different time periods and geographical regions of the Western Hemisphere, expanding students' awareness of space and time concepts. Students engage in investigations using promary sources such as field trips, eyewitness accounts, maps, interviews, and historical artifacts, and represent their developing knowledge through a variety of hands-on culminating projects.
