Dave Roman Visits Churchill

On February 1, 2012, graphic novelist Dave Roman came to visit the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades at Churchill.  His interactive presentations in the auditorium included a slide show to accompany a lively description of his early work as an author and illustrator, as well as his jobs at DC Comics and Nickelodeon Magazine.  Dave used an easel and markers to show the students how he draws his cartoon characters, and some students had the opportunity to draw their own creations on the easel in front of the auditorium.

The students loved Dave's presentations!  Some even wrote him letters of appreciation after the performance.  A follow-up project in the Art Department will allow students to further explore the possibilities of creating their own versions of comic book panels.
