Raina Telgemeier's Visit

On March 16, 2011, Raina Telgemeier (graphic novelist and illustrator) spent the day with our Middle School students showing them how she writes and illustrates her books, including her runaway best seller Smile, based on her own experiences in middle school. Afterwards, our middle school art teachers, Christine Pellicano and Sasha Rosenhaus, collaborated with Rachel Berkey, on several Graphic Novel art projects for our middle schoolers.

Her warm and engaging presentations brought a SMILE to everyone’s face!

After Raina's visit, our Middle school students became very busy designing and writing their own original Graphic Novels during their art classes.

Some of our students' projects include drawing illustrations of alternative endings to stories, drawing and writing accounts of what happened before or after a story which they have already read, and writing and drawing a special event in their lives.

Take a look at these terrific projects after you have seen the pictures from Raina's visit.
