Research Tips and Creating a Bibliography

A research paper is a well-documented essay, generally using outside sources.  These sources can be from both print and electronic media. As you choose your sources, you must keep track of them so that you can later cite them in your final bibliography.

When you are assigned a research paper, there are six specific steps that you should follow when you organize your research:

1.  Choose your topic.

2.  Identify, evaluate, and select your sources.

3.  Design an outline and include a thesis and an argument.

4.  Take notes.

5.  Write your first draft and then revise your draft.

6.  Write your final draft.
